Comments
Comments: No one ever wants to do this with me so I went today since it will never be dryer than it was today. All water crossing easy and even Cedar Brook Trail at height of land was crazy dry, one swamp puddle easy to get thru. Followed Brook at 2600 feet (I think it was the third one) and found it easy going away from the slippery rock high up on the left bank. Loved the Slide! I found good footing where slide is no longer active, the deep trench was loose and scary but stayed to the right most of the way before moving to left. Views were grand could see so much top of Loon's North Peak all the way to Franconia Ridge and Lincoln slide looked cool. No idea why I decided to whack to NW except I like whacking From the col a herd path has formed from visitors funneling to the ridge, it isn't too easy to follow but it sped up my progress a lot. I was able to follow it back to the col where there is a dozen ways to go. I happily found my way. Saw less than a dozen people on my way back. I think descending South is a nightmare of loose rocks, I took my time. Hancocks are more fun in winter. I think my total distance was just a bit over 12 miles. Temperature and a nice breeze made for a perfect outing
