Trail Fixing Collective has recently built a new footpath up and over Mt. Bet that is pretty great. Mostly easy grades, switchbacks, smooth footing, the whole shebang. Except for the northern 0.4 mi., this new trail is completely removed from the former route that followed a snowmobile trail. The trail is fully signed and blazed but flagging remains in place. The Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire (SELT) website states that an updated trail map will be available later in 2025.
The short spur to the view ledges remains unchanged except that it's now blazed. Good views out to the Blue Hills Range and Prospect Mtn. in Alton.
The summit of Bet has no trail but is a very short and easy bushwhack from the ledges. The previous mini-canister has been replaced by a glass jar. |
