This was my second attempt at SW Twin. The first time I reached my turn around time and was quite tired so it made sense to turn back. This time, prior knowledge of the territory and a better plan (especially an earlier start time) lead to a hard-won success. Enormous thanks go out to Jason Rossman (TW56) and David Darby before him for their trip reports and .gpx files posted on the peakbagger website. I used Jason's 10/22/2020 file for my route. There was plenty of zigging and zagging and false assumptions, bumps and scratches and general difficulties. But by staying within the "looplets" and trying to make west-east progress as much as possible, the target was reached. Further along the route, faint herd paths appeared in places, especially approaching the top. Once was enough for this peak! This albatross has taken wing and flown off from TW65 (Ha!). |
