 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Big lot at intersection of 302 and (gated) Sawyer River Road. Busy on a Tuesday…14 cars when we arrived at 8:15. Eight cars still there when we returned at 6:15. Does not require a WMNF parking pass |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |
 | Recommended Equipment: |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Carrigain Brook crossing (at 1.7 miles from trailhead) easily rockhoppable. Cross to the east of where the trail meets the creek-more rocks on that side. Dry dry conditions, so if you need water, fill up here. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail in great shape. Just one big tree across the trail that you can step over. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Good trail for dogs, but no water source for the last 3.5 miles of trail. Saw one very good boy trail running. |
 | Bugs: |
Main reason for post: there are active yellowjackets (possibly bald face hornets) at the dry stream crossing 2.5 miles from the trail head. No activity on the morning, but three of five hikers got stung crossing back through this area at 4pm. Not sure where the nest is but they were definitely aggressive, so it must be close by. |

Great trail and conditions. Much busier than we’d expected on a Tuesday…saw at least 20 people on the trail and two camping groups. |
