Comments: Rattle river starts with a lovely 2 miles (ish) jaunt in the woods past streams, a blocked off bridge and the rattle river camp site. Then starts the ‘type A’ fun. Who doesn’t love a stairmaster in the middle of the woods? The climb between mile 3 to kenduskeag tr is spicy. We decided to hit Moriah first which has rolling climbs to middle and eventually Moriah. There’s a few blowdowns that are managed as much as they can be. We had Moriah to ourself which is always a treat. But were we done?…..no! Shelburne moriah wouldn’t just get itself! To note- the signage from Moriah side of kenduckeag to RR says 1.9 BUT the sign from RR to Moriah says 1.4 (that I proceeded to obsess about for an hour and change). Anyways, from rr to SM is lovely with some gentle PUDS. We heard there was mud and become fixated on it. Although we found some, we were disappointed it was dryish. Lots of boardwalks leading up to SM! I love them! It was overgrown in parts leading up to SM but it wasn’t bad at all. We ran into some friendly through hikers - all in all this is a wonderful hike!
