Trails
Trails: North Twin Trail, North Twin Spur
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, September 1, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I arrived at the trailhead at around 7am on Monday (Labor Day) and the small lot was full (a capacity of maybe 10 cars) but there was plenty of space to park along the road (on the side that parking is permitted).
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The river crossing was easy (given the lack of significant rain lately) and there are a few other very easy small stream crossings.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Generally, the trails seemed to be in great shape. Of course, there are sections with a good amount of erosion in the steeper sections getting towards the summit of North Twin on the North Twin Trail. Also, on the North Twin Spur, there are some sections where the brush on the sides is getting grown in and could use some light pruning.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw 6-8 dogs on the trail and they all seemed to be having a fun day.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad at all. A few flies swarming around here and there, but not a problem. I did get randomly stung on my shoulder on the way out about 1.5 miles before the trailhead. No idea what it was...I didn't even see anything, just suddenly felt a sting. Seems like a bee sting.
