I think foliage is often more impressive on a cloudy day, so I started up hoping clouds would lift during the day. Unfortunately, the viewpoints on the ridge remained in the clouds all day. Despite that, I still enjoyed the walk in the woods. Only saw two people all day. More color is definitely showing up based on what I could see on the roadside as I drove to the trailhead. Started with quick road walk from 19 Mile Brook parking to south terminus of Imp Trail and went up it to North Carter. Lethe has an obvious herd path going to an erratic, which, by eyeball, and my altimeter, might be the actual high point. The path goes a few feet further to an open ledge. However, this did not agree with my GPS waypoint for the summit and I wandered a ways generally northeast on a faint, much gnarlier path to another ledgy area that matched the lat/long for the summit on the peakbagger website. Of note, there are several sharp drops in the area; watch your step! |
