Another drop-dead gorgeous day in the Whites. The Research Bowl was really popping with beautiful yellows and oranges. BL Cutoff is indeed an “attractive” alternative to the lower BL trail. Beautiful woods and some serene river rambling. Everything was nicely dried out including the difficult scrambles, up until the fake summit. Rollins trail was still pretty greasy from all the recent rain, but nothing outrageous. Lots of water flowing at and above Camp Rich currently. Hadn’t hiked lower Dicey’s in nine years-what a pleasant trail for descent-awesome rock steps all over this entire route by the WODC! The hardwoods were bathed in color and sunshine today. Kids had a blast scrambling up Whiteface. 46/48 for James-one more hike for the little guy! |
