The trail is about as dry as it will ever get and you can do it all with dry feet. But the trail includes many natural flowing and mud sections that aren’t entirely dry and it is built around rock hopping in many long sections and that applies even under current conditions. The steepest section of this trail is the bottom 1.7 miles (other than a short scramble to the summit). That lower section isn’t super steep by NH48 standards, but it is currently covered in about 4 inches of fresh fallen leaves that hide many loose rocks and roots, so plan to take your time down that section. I highly recommend trekking poles given all the rock hopping and leaves. |
