We started east on the swath from the border station. Not exactly cruising terrain, but not awful either. Followed the swath past Des Lignes to Scott Bog and set off whacking on the ridge from there. Ridge was a mixed bag. Some lovely cruising stretches and some more dense spots - but nothing awful. Topography was a little odd with some gullies crossing diagonally at times. We also encountered orange blazes (with signs of pruning) and some pink surveyer tape. I'm not sure exactly what this was marking the border of, but it matched our maps, including a slight corner on the northern end of the summit for scott's bog south. We followed this border on the summit area until it seemed like there was a higher spot to our right, at which point we diverged and found the jar without much trouble. Descending we aimed for the WSW drainage, which worked well as we were in good woods, avoided any logging activity and we popped out right at our car spot.
Took us about 90 minutes to get to Scott Bog, about an hour to get to Scott Bog South, then 30 mins back to Rt 3. Definitely feels like the right way to do these 3. |
