Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Scored a spot in the "overflow" area of Zealand just after 7. Upon return at noon, everything was full and there were many cars lining the side of Zealand Road.
Surface Conditions

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings were essentially trickles except for the crossing of Whitewall Brook on Zeacliff Trail. That was super low, so it was an easy rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are 3-4 large blowdowns on Zeacliff Trail that have fallen right in the middle of the trailbed. They all have established herd paths around them, so I imagine they've been there for a while (and since almost the entirety of Zeacliff is in a Wilderness Area, I don't think these are being touched anytime soon). The leaf litter on Zeacliff made it tricky to stay on trail at points, especially higher up. However, there are a few blue blazes which were super helpful to stay on track.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few happy puppers.

Comments
Comments: Foliage is well past peak in the Zealand area. Based on the amount and state of leaf litter, I'd say peak was probably at least 7 days prior. Thoreau Falls is flowing, albeit with much less water than I've ever seen. Zeacliff Trail is a fun way to change it up if you don't mind a mile of hard work. That trail is definitely a calf-burner.
