Nice day so decided to have Charlie drop me off at Reel Brook trailhead and off I went. I saw two people hiking out on Reel. Eliza Brook Shelter looked clean and enough water in the brook to make you think yes I am happy to drink it. Along the cascades there were a dozen or so blow downs. Just a trickle of water flowing. The Harrington Pond/bog was so dry; only some water way on the west side of it, I followed a herd path into it to admire the Pitcher Plants. Here is one of the prettiest places with the cliffs above and lots of dark red foliage below. Only met a few people between the peaks. Ran into Albee and his RI friends on North, they went off for the Easton town highpoint (I tagged it 9/17, how can it be that long ago). Ate lunch on lower North Kinsman ledge while little stinging black flies are me. Mt Kinsman Trail so much easier to go down when it is this crazy dry. Went out and back to Bald because Easton foliage is nice. Brooks almost dry, just barely enough a dog could drink. The relocation back to the original route is nice with new footbridges, six cars in the lot. |
