Comments
Comments: Knowing we didn't have enough daylight to do both peaks and abbott brook, we opted to nab hell gate and orphan two grants. With the less than pleasant reports of the eastern approach, and the generally good conditions in logged areas around here, we charted a course from the NW where we could follow the logged areas almost the entire way to the summit.

This was the win of the day. We walked up the spur road, crossing an out bridge, then turned right into the logged area. Good herd path through the regrowth pretty much the whole way up (it helps all the leaves have fallen already). Anyways, the logging roads took us to about 2300, where we found OK woods getting up to the ridge north of the peak. The ridge was the mossiest I've ever seen, and we had to navigate some sketchy mossy boulders, but still an easy whack. Followed our same tracks down.

50 mins up, 40 mins down, including the road walk. If we had more time, I would have tried whacking over to two grants, then down to Dead Diamond Rd and road walk back.
