 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was able to drive all the way to the pond in my mid-clearance AWD RAV4. It's potholed and a 10mph type road, but the only dicey stretch was the steep section, where 5 or 6 water bars required caution. But none of them were bad enough where I worried about bottoming out. Bridges all looked fairly new.
At the three bridges before the steep section, there's an RMC sign saying 'high clearance only, road under construction'. There were no signs of construction. |

Mostly writing this as a report on the road.
We whacked in open woods to the summit. Fantastic new notebook (h/t Wildcat Woman) in a novel style cannister. Descending, we found a woods road within 100 yards of the summit and followed that out. It was mostly lovely, with some signs of old maintenance on blowdowns, but had some wet/overgrown stretches too. It followed the 2250 contour on the west side of the southern ridge and popped us out near the snomo intersection. Short road walk back to the car from there.
40 mins up, 30 mins down. |
