Beautiful day on the trail. Arrived at the trailhead at 0730 and no other cars in the lot. Water crossings no issue but with the upcoming rain that’s gonna change. Some muddy spots on the trail before the loop intersection. The jays are really aggressive at the top so keep your snacks hidden and close or they’ll grab them for sure. Quite slick coming down from the south peak. I decided to don microspikes for this short section as a precaution. Removed them when I got to the loop split. It was icy and about an inch or less of snow between the peaks so spikes might be useful. Found a black Dakine mitten on the way up to Mt. Hancock. If it’s yours, email me and we can make arrangements to get it back to you. |
