Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We paid $15 to park at the Old Toll Road trailhead. Seriously? I wouldn't mind so much if the State of NH charged all those Artist Bluff climbing folks and Old Bridle Path/Falling Tourists! WTheck right?!

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: 20+ trails today we tossed a lot of sticks and we removed a few trees. Only one we couldn't remove was about an 8" spruce across the Thoreau Trail at elevation 2,360 feet. Painting of blazes on rocks of trails such as a white dot for White Dot and S for Smith etc. and good trail signs just shows how much more clever the State of NH is than the not so clever National Forest. Nice to hike on soft footbeds on the out of the way paths and trails. We noted that we did not see a trail sign at the intersection of Monte Rosa and Smith Summit.

Comments
Comments: We started at 8:30 am and paid the man in the shack $15 dollars to park at the base of the Old Toll Road, we were second car in the lot. We hiked on 20+ trails today and they trails were well maintained. We spent a lot of time at many of the intersections trying to decide the best way to reel in Becca's redlines she was missing. We did a few out and backs and only made one wrong turn today. We covered 10 miles in less than 7 hours. We took long candy breaks and ate a good lunch on Bald Rock. Winds were whipping and it was dang chilly when not in the sun. Soo many people on top of Monadnock and we passed another million people on their way up White Dot--so happy to turn on to the Smith Connector. Fairy Spring was magical, just coming out of the rock from no where. Nice views from summits and Cliff Walk has so many wonderful outlooks. Becca might run out of red ink in her pen tonight.
