Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A 10-12" (diameter) "old dead" tree down across the Mount Kinsman Tr (at 3' above trail), just uphill of the Bald Peak spur junction. Walkaround easy now. After a couple feet of snow, will need to clear limbs to be able to step over (presuming the government is still shut down for no official trail works...). I didn't have my silkie today, and no one is crawling under anyway.

Comments
Comments: Snow line starts at 2,500'. Freeze line about 3,000', with thaw/freeze conditions. We made it without microspikes up to just beyond the Kinsman Ridge junction, then put them on for the duration and descent back down to 3,000' (on plenty of the frozen leaves and roots). A decent amount of thawing today of the .25" to .5" accretion on the slabs of the Ridge Trail. It's a tricky mess for the time being as microspikes break the film, but thankfully the rocks here will hold the point.
