Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The frost heave highway known as 118 (Or old maps call this the Woodstock & Warren Carriage Road), which may be the most repaved road in NH, again has fresh asphalt down. I think they have paved this yearly for the last five years. Ravine Lodge Road is still open to the lodge. In true psychopathic fashion, I removed one large red maple limb that was partially in the road with the chainsaw I just so happen to have in my car. Hey we lost power and I live in the North Country on a dirt road, you gotta be self sufficient.

Comments
Comments: A FINE day in the forest! Fall is firmly in control to about 3100, then loses the battle, upon which snow begins. Depth ranges from a trace to 1" - nothing crazy. However we still have freeze/thaws almost daily so spikes are an essential piece of gear as the upper half of this trail is a mix of glare and black ice. Spikes on at 4300 on the ascent, then down to last sure water upon descent. Superb weather conditions. Even with a late start, socked in above 4500 feet, only to have it in the clear at the car. Beautiful rime ice feathering as well as needle ice. (I saw that now, but in like a month, I'll be using a few other choice adjectives that are not so... kind) Several familiar faces out enjoying the day made it that much better!
