 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
**Warning - my car was broken into at the trailhead!** - some a******* decided to smash a window and fortunately nothing was stolen, but the clean up and delayed drive home and arrangements for repairs this week are a giant inconvenience. I reported the break-in to Carroll County Sheriff's Office but be careful with what you leave in your car! The other two cars in the lot did not sustain any damage. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Ice - Breakable Crust, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No significant issues - had to step on rocks 1-2" below the surface on one crossing above Shingle Pond but all very manageable. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail overall in very good shape - we moved several smaller branches and twigs that came down with the windy weather a few days ago. More blazes lower down would be helpful (between the clear cut areas and Shingle Pond) - we never lost the trail but the footbed was much harder to see in this area with all the leaves down. Trail also hard to follow coming off the summit if you don't know where you're going - minimal markings until you get back in the trees and we actually had to turn around here in winter a few years ago due to complete lack of any sign of a trail. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Maddie had a great hike - no major issues for shoulder season hardy canines. |
 | Bugs: |
Found one tick on Maddie's pack at the summit - it's cold but they're not gone yet. |
 | Lost and Found: |
Dark gray hat hanging on the sign where the trail turns off the forest road and into the woods down low. |
