Comments
Comments: Goal of this hike was to knock off a couple of the T25. Total hiking time was 10h31m for 11 miles. First 4 miles up Lowe's path to the base of King Ravine was quick, snowy needed spikes the entire time. Once elevation gain started to speed up the moving time dropped significantly. Ice and rime ice has built up on boulders so much that an ice axe was needed to chip out foot holds and use the axe as the 3rd point of contact. Great Gully trail was more of the same and probably would have saved the group time going up the rest of the KRT. Summit was covered in rime, a few inches of snow and some drifts. 4 other people total encountered on the summit. Used Lowe's path for full descent with a stop at Gray Knob to rest legs and hydrate properly. Crampons would've been the smarter choice especially at this time of year. Full winter on the higher peaks.
