Comments
Comments: We hiked this loop clockwise, walking the road to up the Zealand Trail, then by the hut and up Lend a Hand, descending to the car via Hale Brook Trail. Trails at lower elevation were dry and easy underfoot. Snow appeared in the woods on Lend a Hand at about 3200' with a shallow layer on the trails up to the summit. Voracious gray jays at the summit, as usual. The Hale Brook Trail above the higher crossing had stretches of soft ice from frozen runoff as well as slick mud. Descending, we donned spikes near the summit and removed them just below the upper crossing.
Lovely hike with Chris and Renee, meeting only three other friendly groups along the way.
