Started off with light manageable snow, barebooted to about the ladders then I could feel some icy rocks under the snow. The snow quickly went from a few inches (1-3") to about 5-8" up top, all light and powdery. If there had been significant snow before this then snowshoes would have been great..however it was a game of "am I stepping on a rock or a root or a hole" Another good storm or two and the snowshoes will be needed up high. I avoid the ladders as best as I can because they are seriously deteriorating and that's a level of chaos I don't need to deal with (like if another step broke..) Some spots lower still had water running down with a few icy spots. Did not see another person out there. |
