Comments
Comments: Started up Al Merrill which starts out with only trace amounts of snow slowly deepening to a few around the 3300' mark to about 6" around 3800'. Above treeline on the Moose is pockets of deeper snow where the wind has piled it up in between exposed rocks. Not enough for snowshoes but enough to cover your boots of you step in one. The summit is caked in rime but no ice on the ground. Traction was pretty good with bareboots. Gorge brook has been trampled down and is slick in some spots where the freeze/thaw has hidden some ice. Still did it without trouble in bareboots but it's that time to start carrying the spikes.
