Comments
Comments: Beautiful day up high, only saw one other person. I broke trail in bare boots from the hut up to the twins, then used snowshoes to get to W. Bond and Zealand. The snow is like sand, so will be drifting and not packed down. Great snowshoeing conditions actually after S. Twin. I could have used them for N. Twin but they weren’t essential. They were essential for the rest of the day, there’s no way I would’ve gone to West Bond and Zealand without them. Snow was a good depth, I hardly hit any rocks except for Guyot, where I took them off. Drifts were thigh-deep around the edges of the bare summits where it blows off, so gaiters were handy too. I didn’t use microspikes at all but some might want those on the lower part of Gale River trail, rock-spikes perhaps.
