Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Carrigain Brook was sketchy. Slippery logs are the obvious route. On our return, the water had risen even more and led to some wet boots after trying to take the higher route and it being deeper than expected. Pack extra socks, cross in a group, or take your time calculating your crossing
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of VERY wet trail, standing water, not in just the portions with bog bridges.

Comments
Comments: Went out solo but coincided with a group of three guys, which made the water crossing a little more comfortable fir all. This trail started out dry going up Sawyer River Road and at the beginning of Signal Ridge Trail but then started getting wet in some portions, with some standing water in spots. Once on the uphill after the trail junction with Carrigain Notch Trail, ice started becoming more prevalent, requiring microspikes. Light snow and cold temps made things crunchy with solid ice and snow on the ridge and summit. Snow stuck around and even after descending past the ice, the trail had a light coating of snow all the way back to Swayer River Rd. The wetter portions got even wetter on our return and Carrigain Brook was noticeably higher the second time. Overall, stellar shoulder season hike.
