	Date of Hike:	Thursday, November 13, 2025

	Parking/Access Road Notes:	The hatchery gate was open and I parked in the small lot at the trailhead

	Surface Conditions:	Wet Trail, Snow - Unpacked Powder

	Recommended Equipment:

	Water Crossing Notes:	All crossings were hopped on rocks

	Trail Maintenance Notes:	The trail lacks any blazes until about 1 mile from the summit. Many sections also lack sufficient drainage. There are a few blowdows that can be stepped over

	Dog-Related Notes:	Should be a good trail for dogs

	Bugs:

	Lost and Found:	The only person I saw that day left me a note in my car that he dropped his sunglasses somewhere along the trail.


	Comments:	I arrived at 8 am to 2-3 inches of snow in the parking lot and one other car in the lot. Snow depth increased to 5-6 inches within two miles and was 8+ at the summit. The snow was powdery but also a bit sticky and provided enough traction that I bare booted to the summit and back with very little slipping. I was very glad another person broke trail earlier in the day so I had tracks to follow since there are no blazes until about 1 mile from the summit and the snow covered everything deep enough to make it easy to get off trail. Met the other hiker as he was coming back down and it was just the two of us all day. By the end of the day our combined up and back tracks made the trail much easier to follow. Tragically, his tracks also showed that he came up short of the actual summit after all his hard work. The actual summit is about 150’ feet past the sign post at the intersection with the Kilkenny Ridge Trail. I broke out that last spur. The cabin is open to stop if you fancy.
