Comments
Comments: Great fun winter hike in November! I wore spikes from the parking lot to Greenleaf Hut and then snowshoes from the hut to my turnaround point just above treeline. There is 2-6 inches of dry, unconsolidated snow over some ice below Greenleaf Hut. Snowshoes not necessary and, in fact, a liability with all the rocks that are still near the surface. Above the hut, drifted snow and thick rime ice made snowshoes extremely useful.

I made great time up to treeline and then quickly turned around as the wind was whipping clouds across Lafayette bringing visibility to zero and I didn't want to lose the trail in the dark.
