Large blow down before the Kilkenny Ridge Intersection. A hiker group behind us trimmed some limbs making it easier to get over it on our decent (thank you). There are three or four step overs and duck unders after between the intersection and the cabin. |

A fantastic windless, blue-sky day for this hike today. Cold start but a very comfortable day and an amazing winter wonderland up high with the snow-covered trees and great views where you can get them. Snow bombs from the trees got us a few times. The trail is troughed out and consists mostly of unconsolidated loose snow with a few exposed areas. Some sunlit sections were starting to be exposed in the afternoon. Hiker's choice for footwear down low on the level stretch. Some barebooted, some used spikes. Snowshoes were the best choice from where the trail started to ascend and most hikers wore them. Two other hikers wore spikes which looked pretty balled up. Glad to grid out November with this one. |
