The only 'water' crossing on this trail at Eagle Tarn, now has a boardwalk. I was dismayed to not find any fried dough vendors. Blinks - I have a tremendous business opportunity to talk to you about |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I am not really a fan of the work being performed on this trail, I understand the reasoning but my god, why not just install an escalator? It's just ridiculous with the amount of switchbacks and proposed switchbacks that are flagged. It adds quite a bit of distance and you know full well a herd path is going to form in a few years of people wondering why they have to add 0.25+ to their hike. |

A FINE evening was had with Salami! Spikes car to car. Carried snowshoes, they could (and should) be utilized from the hut to the summit but the track was firm for us well after dark. However, if you are up there in any type of sun, you're going to be going "BD" (beaver or balls deep, we don't discriminate) - there is feet of snow up there. Trail is in great shape for now before we get more snow and it becomes its typical frozen post-holio disaster. On the agonies, especially at the basalt section, the blue ice is incredible already. I have new sharp spikes on and there was one step that provided an extreme pucker fest moment, whereas everything else on this trail had bite. Went for a little ride. Thankfully I enjoy cheap thrills. The rime ice above treeline is impressive, and the sign has approximately -at least- a four to five foot epic feather on it. We were singing and skipping to the Island of Misfit toys on the way out, a fantastic evening to be out. 26 at the summit and a staggering lone 5mph gust with the nerd machine. |
