Comments
Comments: Two NH 500 peaks, I made a loop bushwhacking up to Bear first from Trapper John shelter. A compass was not needed, I just headed uphill rather steeply and had to work around some cliffs, nothing dangerous but it could be tricky to pick a good line if you tried to descend this way, so I’m glad I went up this way instead of Holt first. An inch or so of snow up above 1500’, not much view, and a sad frozen jar. I headed straight for Holts Ledge, wide open hardwoods but watch out for the barbed wire. I ended up right at the flat true summit. I wandered around wondering where the ledges were, the viewpoint is further down the trail to the North, the way I was going back. Great view of Winslow Ledge and Sugar Hill which was my next destination. There was some minor ice on the trail, not enough to bother putting spikes on but I did carry them.
