Started from Haystack Rd, over Twins to the Bonds and out Lincoln woods Three in our crew. Snowshoes went on at North Twin summit and stayed on until a couple miles down from Bondcliff. Wore spikes at different points of the day and wished we had switched to them over Bondcliff instead of tripping over rocks with our snowshoes. Many thanks to those who broke out Bonds this week! Our only real trailbreaking section was predictably the Twinway between South Twin and Guyot, otherwise trails were broken out and in various states of packed out.
When we drove back around to Haystack to get our cars the police had the road closed; what was a little snow was on the road this morning melted, got packed down and refroze into an ice luge. We were told they weren’t letting anyone drive in but we could walk in and get our cars, so we parked at 7 Dwarfs and took the shortcut, successfully made it out. Adventurous end to a long fun Snowvember day! |
