Brought microspikes and snowshoes but never used either, studded trail runners the whole way. Packed snow and exposed rocks from trailhead to about 4000 feet so snowshoes wouldn't have helped on the first climb until we get more snow. A couple minor patches of ice on the steep parts of the East Osceola climb but nothing major and all avoidable. Studs or microspikes would be fine. From peak to peak there was loose but packed snow. Could run without post holing. Shoeshoes may have been a bit easier on this section at times, but I never bothered. |
