 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lots of space in the parking lot today, and this is my first trail report since noting that the trailhead kiosk got a nifty new hat. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I am the trail adopter and went out today to clear drainages and get some ax therapy. There was a new, large paper birch stepover from about 2 weeks ago. Mischief managed! |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Yep my pupper is well known to the squirrels on this route, and they avoided her very efficiently! |

Until we get more snow I would recommend consideration for hiking clockwis, if you are hiking the loop. There are some slab scrambles between the East Ledges and the summit and they are really icy. The ice is thick enough not to be easily breakable and also to be resistant to beater or rock spikes, so you will want to be ascending these rather than descending them (ie hike clockwise). Beater or rock spikes really are perfect because there is a whole lot of ice and also a whole lot of exposed rock. I wore mine for pretty much the whole loop.
As I was chipping away at the blowdown with my ax, I got to meet someone that I have been emailing with for years - the amazing Mike S from the WODC! He pretty much insisted that he would help me and for sure I could have done it myself but it was definitely faster with help!! Thank you Mike! I also got to see Dave again, and have a catch-up chat. Really great day on the Hedgehog hike! |
