Great day and conditions overall. Bare boots from Lincoln Woods until just below Bondcliff summit, where some drifts convinced me to put snowshoes on. I swapped to spikes for the icy summit, then shoes went back on partway up to Bond since I was postholing a bit. Snowshoes stayed on over Bond, up and down West Bond Spur, to South Twin, Galehead, and part of the way down Gale River Trail. Trails over the Bonds were broken out and packed nicely. Once I got to the Boncliff/Twinway junction the snow was deeper, looser, and less broken out. It took a little more work but wasn't bad overall. Galehead was nicely packed. Snow was melting by the time I got partway down Gale River, and I switched to bare boots back to the car, walking on wet leaves.
Didn't see anyone else all day. |
