|
 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lot across the street was clear as were the shoulders of 302. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Slush |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The one crossing was a little tricky to jump on the way in (had to leap up onto rocks that were slippery, but not coated enough for spikes). Coming back, we had an easier time jumping slightly up river from one icy rock down to a nicely coated icy rock while wearing spikes. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One large blowdown 1.65 miles in (heading up to Jackson). It has been delimbed enough to make passing easy, but could use more delimbing now and an axe next spring.
Several areas where drainage is an issue and folks have widened the trail considerably or created many braided trails. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a few out, not sure if they summited…the last push to the summit might have been tricky for them. |

 | Comments: |
All water crossing, small and large, were unbridged and running freely. Most of the trail had a nice amount of grippy ice, but wherever there was a seep or drainage, the trail was free of ice and had mud and/or running water. We barebooted up for almost a mile, but then gave in and donned spikes. Kept them in until virtually back at the trailhead. A few snow squalls came through (mainly after we were done), but I don’t think they amounted to much snow depth. |
