 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Much of the trail is crusty ice/hard snow right now. My dog got a slight cut on one paw (she hikes a lot and has never had a cut before). It would be wise to have paw protection. |

Started out on bare ground, put micros on about 1 mile in and wore them until about .5 miles to go. About 1" of snow fell while we were hiking. Hard crusty snow that was supportive, snowshoes not necessary until it either warms up or we get more snow. ~2" of snow at the initial height of land ~1.8 miles in, not enough to cover the rocks, but enough ice that the micros helped even though they take a beating. Looks like people hiked in the slush on Weds with bare boots and those prints are frozen solid now so the trail is uneven on Iso Exp. There are several routes through EH, the lower one is the most direct and is recommended (we took it on the way down). Iso Express route has a couple of options, I'd agree with Heat's post to stay to the left on the way up but the routes all seem to come together and are not bad. |
