Comments
Comments: Absolutely beautiful snowy day hike of the Owl! Trace snow on Lincoln woods on the way in then complete coverage after Osseo junction. It started snowing on the Black Pond Bushwhack, but the track was still easy to follow. I put spikes on when I hit Lincoln brook trail, although they could have gone on sooner.
Both crossings were manageable. The first was fairly easy, although those with shorter legs might get a little nervous. The second one had some sketchier steps, but there was some good ice forming in spots that was plenty thick enough to step on.
Brutus was steep as always. Trail crampons would have been better than microspikes, but I didn't want to stop and switch. I took it easy on the way down and stayed upright no problem.
Windy and cold up top so I didn't hang around for long. Only saw one fellow Owl hunter then just 5-6 people on Lincoln Woods on my way out
