First quarter mile or so of trail from parking lot was a crusty mix of ice and frozen soil. From there to around the 3000' mark the trail had some packed ice but was basically bare ground. Last steep portion prior to ridge was ice/snow covered. Hillsounds or Microspikes. From intersection up to Martha was fully snow covered. Snowmobiles had packed it down. Slippery in spots but no postholing.
From Martha to Owlshead was snowcovered. Some postholing. Snowshoes would have been great. Final steep section to Owlshead required spikes due to ice. Summit area was basically clear of snow/ice. Temps should thaw and dry things out pretty quickly this week.
What awesome views from this little peak. |
