Comments
Comments: I started out around 1:30 PM. Put my snowshoes on at the start and cruised up the road to the parking lot. However, I found the actual trail to still be a bit boney and it was slow going in snowshoes. There was one other hiker wearing spikes and there was another hiker who skied up to the trailhead and then wore spikes most of the way up before us. I was hoping to hike the loop, coming down from the peak on the Barlow trail, but there were no tracks on that trail and since I reached the peak just after 3 PM, I didn't want to risk finding my way and breaking trail in the dark. So it was an out and back hike along the Winslow trail. Currently, I find the conditions are such that it's more difficult to hike in spikes and snowshoes. It's like walking in sand with spikes and still too boney for snowshoes. So you could go either way and just take your time and be careful. Caught some nice views of the sun setting from the peak and on my return.
