Some blowdowns along Smarts in the Wilderness area that have been minimally addressed, including a large "duck under", second large "duck/crawl under" is on the Sandwich Mt. trail between Smarts and summit |

Great day on this scenic trail following this week's snowstorm. I used snow shoes the whole time but others may want to opt for spikes heading up towards the switchbacks since the powder is fairly thin on the rocks and made snowshoes awkward. Recommend snowshoes climbing the switchbacks to Sandwich trail and up to the summit since the snow is very loose powder. Snowshoes provided good traction in this both ascending and descending. |
