Thank you SO MUCH to the large group in front of us who broke out the trail! Snowshoes were definitely needed! Soft snow conditions. Boney sections with rocks not fully covered. Nice to stop at Zealand Hut for breaks and warm up! It was a balmy 37 degrees inside the hut In the morning. Peter the caretaker was very kind. The ladder above Zeacliff was partially covered and a bit tricky.
When we left the hut on our way out, four guys came up and were wearing microspikes. The nice snowshoe track was all chopped up. We tried to smooth it out. Not that it mattered since they will be hiking out today.
