Difficult shoulder season conditions. Snow patches and bony conditions on the ski trail up to the gondola. You'll want snowshoes more for the traction than for flotation. The ridge was not tracked out, but the snow was light and fluffy so breaking was easy. A good number of sections where there is ice or rock under the snow and you won't find out until you're stepping into it. Windswept in the saddles between peaks. You'll need snowshoes the entire way across the ridge until it gets a little more tracked out and stable. Was able to bareboot 19MB but spikes would probably have been easier. (Was just happy to take the snowshoes off at that point) |
