|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues, starting to be bridged, as I’m party sized, I’ll take my chances with the snow covered rocks a little longer. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One duck under on Liberty Springs. A couple leaners in the col between the summits and one small tree down in the trail causing people to create a walkaround. Also of note in the really badly eroded section of Liberty Springs the snowshoe track is off to the side of the trail. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
No pups today, this was a work trip and too cold for Jackson anyway. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Nada |
|

Nope. |

Great day out with a Redline superguest working on his grid. I wore spikes from car to the Tentsite and then put my snowshoes on, which I wore from that point all the way back down to the junction with Flume Slide Trail. At that point in the afternoon I barebooted back to the car.
Bike path is pretty powdery and snowshoes would be the best choice there. Lower portion of Liberty Springs is still boney but not as bad as I thought it would be (my ankles and my MSR’s both had PTSD from last week). Only reason I wore my spikes all the way to the Tentsite was it was really cold this morning and I didn’t feel like stopping for the gear swap. Guest wore snowshoes door to door. Nice that the base is finally starting to consolidate for better traction.
Nice to meet Ken Y and the Soules out on trail.
No recent tracks up Flume Slide Trail. In the morning we didn’t see any tracks heading towards Little Haystack, on our way back we did see some tracks.
This report will self destruct overnight with arrival of fresh snow. |
