Beautiful winter walk up Moosilauke. Very cold (single digits and possibly negative) but almost no wind. Bare boot lower half, spikes above 3,300. Almost everything was a few inches of fresh snow over a frozen base. At upper elevations if you step off trail you’re in 1-2 feet of snow. Some drifting above tree line with up to 2 feet of snow but I didn’t feel it warranted switching to snowshoes. Only two other people on trail. |
