Comments
Comments: Loop over Smarts via Lambert Ridge & Ranger Trail. Snow depth about 6" powder with very little firm base, drifty areas on ridges. Wedding cake ice just starting to thicken on a few ledges near summit. Trails were minimally broken out, wore snowshoes for good powder traction and to keep the trails posthole free. Scraped rock here and there but not a lot. Ski tracks and snowshoes tracks on Ranger. Fire tower covered in light rime. Noticed the new trail signs--thank you trail maintainers. Started 11:45, finished 3:20. First time I've ever seen this parking lot empty on a such a good weekend day, even in winter. Had the entire mountain to myself.
