 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The Class VI portion of Tarlton Rd. is not maintained in winter, nor is the trailhead parking area, but high-clearance vehicles can currently get to the parking. Watch for a small snowplow berm at the start of the road. I had no issues in my Forester. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Blazing on the scout and sluice trails needs to be redone. Newcomers to Epsom Town Forest may experience some confusion as the new official map indicate trail names, but these names do not appear on the new signs that were installed, nor do they appear on the existing older signs; the signs list destinations only. It would be good to have everything consistent. Example: The trail to Neville Peak is signed as Neville Ridge Scout Foot Trail, but the map calls it Neville Peak Trail. Which name is correct? |

A sunny day for a pleasant snowshoe trip around Epsom Town Forest. I really like being able to do a longer loop in here thanks to the new trails that opened in 2024.
Snow was soft so snowshoes were the best tool today, especially at higher elevations where the snow was deeper. If you are coming here later this week in the warming temps, snowshoes will be needed.
The scout trail had an existing snowshoe track with some fresh snow on top. All of the other trails were choppy from boot traffic. I smoothed things out the best I could but more snowshoe love is needed.
Great views today. It's a real treat to be able to access Fort without using the steep access road! |
