Comments
Comments: 4 of us skied the road then swapped out to spikes until after the river crossings and the start of the climb. At that point we put on snowshoes and left them on until we got back down to the crossings. Snowshoes were definitely appropriate for the upper elevations. Two people ahead of us did not have them and there were some post holes up to their hips. The trail is well packed until maybe 2/3rds of the way up to the ridge then it is pretty rough due to post holers. With heavy rain the a fast freeze expected on Friday it will be very differnt conditions on Saturday.
