 | Comments: |
Though last week's rain took out a good portion of the snowpack, much of the mountain remains covered.
Lower mountain trails are nearly fully covered, apart from some bare spots under the pines. Unfortunately someone barebooted when everything was soft, leaving frozen footprints and postholes. The snowshadow up high is bare (from near the viewpoint to the summit). Otherwise, the snowpack is generally about 1 to 6 inches of dense granular. Some blue and black ice patches. Generally able to get by with spikes, other than one short blue ice patch that was too much for them (able to get down with care).
If the upper bounds hit, tomorrow's snow storm could result in snowshoes being needed again.
Partly sunny afternoon with temperatures in the 20s and cold wind. |
