 | Comments: |
Another inch of fresh powder fell over night, and the cold temps kept the snow in powder form. Trail is packed down, but still not firmed up. You could use spikes and snow is not deep enough to post hole, but you will work allot harder churning in the unconsolidated snow. I used snow shoes start to finish. A few rocks exposed, but most are avoidable if you are paying attention. The best was coming down in the shoes, great traction, big strides, no sliding or bum touch’s, overall a great winter trail condition. Not many on the trail for such a nice Holliday weekend. I didn’t see another hiker till 0.25 from summit, and only three total on ascent. More on the return, including two that buzzed by me in summer trail runners with no traction at all. |
