We snowshoed up airline even though there were still alot of exposed rocks. The drifting wasnt bad except for a few spots on the exposed section on durand ridge. Once we reached treeline on airline there was alot of exposed rock so we switched to microspikes until we got back below treeline on valley way. Above treeline there was alot of exposed rock. The snowfields were mostly firm so microspikes were fine. Snow shoes were useful for the top part of valley was since it was soft, but we eventually took them off since there were rocks and icy spots. It was a great day to be in the presidential range since there was amazing weather and not many people around. |
